Sen. Greenleaf (R-Montgomery) introduced Senate Bill 1148 this week, a companion to Rep. Dailey’s House Bill 2619, that would require anyone seeking a water well drillers license from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to pass one of the licensing exams offered by the National Groundwater Association.

The legislation also requires DCNR to make the list of licensed drillers available through the Internet.

At least 16 other states use the NGWA examinations for certification of well drillers.

House Bill 2619 is scheduled to be considered by the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee June 16.
