PA Renewable Energy & Sustainable Living Festival In Kempton September 19-21

The fourth annual PA Renewable Energy & Sustainable Living Festival has expanded to 3 full days this year, September 19, 20 and 21 on 66 acres in a beautiful rural setting the Kempton Community Center, Kempton, Pa.

The event, organized by MAREA, is the first of its kind in the Mid-Atlantic Region and attracts thousands of visitors from several states.

The festival promotes solar, wind and hydrogen power, biofuels, green building, organic farming and sustainable living.

There will be more than 60 lectures, practical workshops and hands-on demonstrations, given by industry leading experts on a variety of topics related to renewable energy and sustainable living.

Workshops and lectures include an introduction to wind power, vegetable oil for fuel, alternative farming techniques, solar site selection and solar panel installation, biofuel auto conversions, alternative heat sources, and many other topics.

There will be an entire section dedicated to transportation, showcasing some of the most efficient vehicles on the market today, as well as some innovative ideas from the past and present.

The festival will also feature live music and entertainment, children’s activities, delicious natural food and much more. This year’s featured musical guest will be Livingston Taylor.

On September 21, in addition to the regularly scheduled festival events, there will be a series of lectures and workshops dedicated to the education of middle and high school students and their teachers.

There will be an extensive list of educational programs for students to promote energy conservation and awareness and sustainable living. The activities will be correlated to the PA Standards in Environment and Ecology and/or Science and Technology. Educators can become eligible for Act 48 credit.

Some of the organizations represented include Kutztown University, Rodale Publishing, Lehigh Valley Green Builders, East Penn Manufacturing, The Sierra Club, The Mid-Atlantic Renewable Energy Association, Alliance for Sustainable Communities Lehigh Valley, Organizations United for the Environment, Four Winds Renewable Energy, Nolde Forest Environmental Center, and Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture.
