Acting Department of Environmental Protection Secretary John Hanger talked about implementing the new PA Climate Change Act (Act 70) during the PA Environmental Council’s 39th Annual Members meeting in this Video Blog story. Acting Secretary Hanger complimented PEC’s leadership on the climate issue which resulted in producing an updated state greenhouse gas inventory and a Climate Change Roadmap developed by a diverse group of stakeholders. Act 70 establishes a 21-member advisory committee that is charged with advising DEP on implementing the law, creating a report on potential climate change impacts and economic opportunities for the Commonwealth, and developing an action plan to implement cost-effective strategies to reduce or offset the state's greenhouse gas emissions. Acting Secretary Hanger made a personal commitment to be involved in the development of the action plan required by the Act.
