Senate Committee Approves Water Bond Fix, Mercury Thermostat Ban Bills

The Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee this week reported out legislation banning the sale of thermostats with mercury, making a fix to boilerplate language in the $400 million water bond referendum legislation and a resolution on federal natural gas shipment rules.

The bills include:

>>Senate Bill 1573(Musto-D-Luzerne) making a correction to the Water Facilities Bond language;

>>Senate Resolution 375(Dinniman-D-Chester) urging Congress to oppose certain federal rules governing the regulation of interstate transportation of natural gas; and

>>House Bill 44(Rubley-R-Chester) banning the sale of thermostats containing mercury.

Sen. Mary Jo White (R-Venango) serves as Majority Chair of the Committee and Sen. Ray Musto (D-Luzerne) serves as Minority Chair.
