More than 300 municipal engineers, managers and public works directors will gather in Pittsburgh on October 1-2 for the tenth annual3 Rivers Wet Weather Sewer Conferenceat the Four Points by Sheraton Pittsburgh North in Cranberry Township. The two-day conference will feature experts who will cover topics, such as “The Greening of Pittsburgh,” “The ‘Glass Box’ Approach to Flow Monitoring,” meeting consent order deadlines, building a data warehouse and a debut of the Pittsburgh portion of the Penn State Public Broadcasting national documentary on the nation’s water infrastructure. Former director of the Louisville County Metropolitan Sewer District Gordon Garner will talk about the benefits of implementing "green" solutions for wastewater and storm water infrastructure. While it’s not always easy for municipalities to implement green solutions when they are struggling to meet performance criteria and mandatory compliance deadlines, Garner will outline issues and approaches that can help cities more successfully integrate green solutions into their wet weather programs while balancing the expectations of regulatory agencies. More than 50 exhibitors will display and demonstrate technologies to help communities find new, cost-effective ways of assessing, restoring, operating and maintaining their sewer systems. Registration is $65. The fee includes a continental breakfast, buffet lunch and refreshments for both days.
