Game Commission Launches Test of Pilot Point-of-Sale Electronic License System
|
Expressing cautious optimism, Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe today announced that a pilot electronic license sale system, commonly referred to as “point-of-sale,” was launched at 15 sites on September 22. Roe said that Automated Licensing Systems, the company hired to produce the new license sale system, has provided a product that the agency plans to use to sell licenses on trial basis at seven issuing agents in four counties, the Fish and Boat Commission’s Harrisburg headquarters and all six Game Commission region offices and the agency’s Harrisburg headquarters. Specific issuing agents are: Walmart in Mechanicsburg, and the Cumberland County Treasurer’s Office in Carlisle; Bass Pro Shop and Dicks Sporting Goods in Harrisburg, Dauphin County; Schuylkill County Treasurer’s Office in Pottsville; and Artistic Edges and the York County Treasurer’s Office, both in York. “The new point-of-sale license system is ready to go,” Roe said. “Over the next several weeks and months, we will offer most classes of licenses for sale through 15 issuing agent venues. Clearing this pilot phase will be a huge step forward for the point-of-sale system and our expectation to fully transition to it for the 2009-10 license year. “We appreciate the willingness of the participating issuing agents to help with this pilot. And, to ensure license buyers are not inconvenienced, each agent is equipped to automatically switch back to selling paper licenses if necessary.” For more information, visit theGame Commission point-of-sale announcement. |
