PROP Sponsors Green Building, Municipal Waste Update Workshops October 20, 31
The Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania Municipal Committee is sponsoring two meetings-- one in Pittsburgh on October 20 and one in the east in Wrightsville on October 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Both meetings will be held in Certified Green buildings with building tours included in the day’s events.
 
In addition to the always popular updates from attendees, Department of Environmental Protection staff will discuss funding, data management, special collections. PROP staff will discuss legislative issues. Other topics include: ppen burning struggles, burning enforcement and new struggles with outdoor furnaces.
 
Those who are available to meet in the west will meet at the CCI Center in Pittsburgh.
 
This meeting will have an additional presentation given by Dave Mazza from the Pennsylvania Resources Council. He will speak about the PRC and its various projects then lead us on a tour of the CCI building which is a renovated 80-year-old former commercial building on the South Side of Pittsburgh that earned the USGBC’s LEED-EB Gold certification.

Those attending the meeting in the east will meet at the Social Hall in the Lower Windsor Township Building in Wrightsville.
 
They will have an additional presentation by Donna McGowan, EPA Region III, who will speak about RecycleMania, a national university and college recycling competition. Donna will also include information about GreenSylvania, a new recycling competition for schools from K-12 in Pennsylvania.
 
A tour will follow of the Township Building which was the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) building. For directions and to learn more, visit the Lower Windsor Township website.
 
The cost is $10 and is payable at the door.The deadline for the October 20 meeting is October 15 and the deadline for the October 31 meeting is October 24. You do not have to be a PROP member to attend.
