ClearWater Conservancy Receives Education Grant From Dominion
The Dominion Foundation has given a $2,500 grant to ClearWater Conservancy to help fund the Connections program, a partnership with the Millbrook Marsh Nature Centerin State College, Pa., through which local elementary students learn about watersheds and the environment in a hands-on, outdoor educational setting.

Specifically, students learn about wetlands and marshes; the importance of streams and the critters that live in them; the cultural history of the area; food chains; integrated pest management; native and invasive vegetation; and wetland animals. The students will participate in stream studies, discovery hikes, wetland scavenger hunts, and nature learning games.

The program is a scholarship opportunity targeted to Bald Eagle, Bellefonte, Penns Valley, Phillipsburg Osceola, and State College teachers, as well as many charter schools and private schools in Centre County, Pa and beyond.

This year, Dominion funded 60 grants totaling $316,980 to schools and educational organizations in North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and other Northeastern states. Since the program began in 1996, Dominion has awarded more than $2 million throughout its service areas.

Funding for the grants come from the Dominion Foundation, which is the philanthropic arm of Dominion dedicated to the economic, physical and social health of the communities served by Dominion energy companies.
