DEP Announces Small Business Energy Efficiency, Waste Reduction Grant Awards
The Department of Environmental Protection this week announced the award of $553,000 in grants to 92 small businesses to help improve energy efficiency and reduce waste under the Small Business Advantage Program.

"Pennsylvania's new energy conservation programs and alternative energy investments will benefit power consumers at work and at home, and protect our environment," said Acting Environmental Protection Secretary John Hanger. "By implementing these conservation measures and generating more of our energy needs from clean energy sources, we will reduce air pollution emissions that lead to climate change and smog."

The Small Business Advantage Grant Program provides a 50-percent match of up to $7,500 for equipment or processes that reduce energy consumption, promote pollution prevention and increase profitability. The program has invested more than $4.2 million in 764 businesses across the state since 2004.

Programs for small businesses to implement the new energy programs are now in development, and funding is expected to be available soon.

A list of grants awarded is available online.
