This Week's Headlines - Rachel Carson's Birthday

May 27 would have been Rachel Carson’s 97th birthday. Many people don’t know this founder of the modern environmental movement called Pennsylvania her home, specifically Springdale near Pittsburgh.

A scientist and author of many award winning books and articles, including the 1962 book Silent Spring about the impacts of pesticides on the environment, Ms. Carson was also a public employee who worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
