WITF-FM, DCNR, Lancaster County Parks Support TreeVitalize With ‘WITF Woodland’
Public broadcasting station WITF in Harrisburg and a partnership with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recreation combined to create a opportunity for supports of WITF-FM to plant trees with their donations in Lancaster County.

Throughout WITF-FM 89.5’s fall fundraising campaign—from October 17-24—people who make donations to WITF at levels of $75 and above can select to have a tree planted in Lancaster County in thanks for their contribution.

Specifically, every $75 donation WITF receives will enable the donor to have a seedling planted in honor or in memory of a loved one in the WITF Woodland—a designated area along the Conestoga River in Lancaster County’s Central Park.

Each seedling will be matched by a second seedling from DCNR, and DCNR will plant and stake all of the seedlings. Additionally, for every 100 seedlings planted, the Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recreation will plant a mature tree in the WITF Woodland.

Similarly, for every $365 donation WITF receives during the fall campaign, DCNR will plant a 12-foot tree in honor or in memory of a loved one in Long’s Park, a City of Lancaster park, as part of an effort to restore tree cover in the park and city.

Donations to WITF can be made by calling 1-800-233-9483 or online. Proceeds from community donations to WITF benefit WITF’s diverse programming, education and community outreach initiatives.
