American Beverage Association Encourages Americans to 'Think Inside The Bin'
|
The American Beverage Association is marking America Recycles Day by again encouraging consumers to "Think Inside the Bin" and recycle their empty beverage containers. A founding sponsor of America Recycles Day, the ABA and its members know the value of recycling and the lasting benefit it can have on communities and the environment. "We're proud of the efforts being made by the beverage industry to reduce its environmental footprint. Our companies are leading the way by lightweighting packaging, using hybrid vehicles in their fleets, constructing energy efficient buildings, and encouraging recycling," said Susan Neely, ABA President and CEO. "By using completely recyclable packaging, beverage companies are doing their part so consumers can do theirs and recycle. We hope that on America Recycles Day and every day, Americans take the opportunity to 'Think Inside the Bin' and recycle their empty beverage containers." As part of an ongoing effort to improve recycling, ABA and its members are engaged in the "Full Circle Plan," which intends to raise consumer awareness of recycling, further energy efficiency within the beverage industry, and enhance local recycling programs. "Beverage containers have one of the highest rates of recycling among consumer packaging in the nation," Ms. Neely said. "Through the simple act of recycling, Americans can increase the lifecycle of these valuable materials, and help the environment."
