Regulations - December EQB Meeting Features Fee Increase On Natural Gas Drilling

The December 16 Environmental Quality Board meeting will feature a proposed increase in gas well permit review fees, drinking water system public notification rules, storage tank operator training requirements and VOC limits for certain products. Here is a list of rules to be considered:

-- Final-Omitted: Increasing the fee for review of gas well permits related to Marcellus Shale drilling from $100 to a base fee of $900 with an additional $100 fee per 500 feet of well depth. (Will go into effect without any public review.);

-- Proposed: Increasing the fee for review of gas well permits related to Marcellus Shale drilling from $100 to a base fee of $900 with an additional $100 fee per 500 feet of well depth. (A public review period is recommended.);

-- Final: public notification requirements for water suppliers;

-- Proposed: Underground storage tank operator training requirements; and

-- Proposed: Volatile organic compound emission limits for adhesives, sealants, primers and solvents.
