Susquehanna Greenways Partnership Topic Of First Environmental Issues Forum in 2009
The Joint Legislative Air and Water Pollution Control and Conservation Committee will hold its first Environmental Issues Forum of the 2009 legislative session on February 9 featuring a speaker from the Susquehanna Greenways Partnership.

The Forum will start atnoon in Room 205 of the Matthew J. Ryan Building.

The main speaker will be Gary Bloss, Executive Director of the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership. The Partnership is dedicated to developing and sustaining the Susquehanna Greenway to connect communities and enrich lives through enhanced recreation, healthy living, economic prosperity and environmental stewardship.

The Susquehanna Greenway is a planned corridor of green infrastructure composed of revitalized river towns, interconnected trails, parks, river access points, riparian buffers and pathways that will link the Susquehanna River and its West Branch with cities, towns, rural areas, conserved natural lands and forests in Pennsylvania.

Nearly 500 miles in length, it is Pennsylvania’s largest greenway. Further development of the Susquehanna Greenway is potentially one of the most cost-efficient means of advancing economic growth within the Commonwealth.

Rep. Scott Hutchinson (R-Venango) is chair of the Committee and Sen. Ray Musto (D-Luzerne) serves as vice-chair.
