Reminder: Western Pennsylvania Environmental Awards Due February 18
If your organization is working to make a difference in protecting the environment in Western Pennsylvania, you could receive a $5000 cash prize from Dominion and the Pennsylvania Environmental Council.
 
The Western Pennsylvania Environmental Awards is now in its 15th year and will recognize up to five people or programs from throughout the area for their work in improving and/or protecting the environment of the region.
 
Nominations are due by February 18. Winners will be notified in early May and will be honored at the Western Pennsylvania Environmental Awards dinner in Pittsburgh on May 27.
The Pennsylvania Environmental Council and Dominion are currently seeking nominations for the annual Western Pennsylvania Environmental Awards and will select up to five applicants to each receive the $5000 award.
 
The Pennsylvania Environmental Council and Dominion, sponsors of the awards program, are inviting any group, individual, program, company, or organization located and working in any of the following 29 Western Pennsylvania counties to submit a nomination: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Cameron, Centre, Clarion, Clearfield, Crawford, Elk, Erie, Fayette, Forest, Fulton, Greene, Huntingdon, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, McKean, Mercer, Somerset, Venango, Warren, Washington, and Westmoreland.
 
The awards process is open to individuals and organizations from every corner of the community, including education, nonprofit organizations, businesses and all levels of government, among others.
Past winners have included innovative land use and development projects, energy efficiency projects, wildlife conservation, grassroots neighborhood greening programs, public awareness programs, pollution prevention activities, and other initiatives to protect or enhance the environment of this region.
 
All nominations will be reviewed and evaluated by an independent panel of judges and award program staff. Finalists may also be asked to host a site visit to demonstrate their program or activities.
