Wildlife For Everyone Continues Popular Seedlings For Schools Project
The Wildlife For Everyone Endowment Foundation Board of Directors again approved funding for the highly successful “Seedlings for Schools” Program.

Orders will be accepted until April 1.
The Foundation invites Pennsylvania schools to participate with the Game Commission in this educational program that allows grade school students to plant a variety of tree seedlings at home, on school grounds, or in their communities.

Trees are important to wildlife, people, and the environment. The program encourages students to learn the vital benefits trees provide to the environment.

“Seedlings for Schools” is targeted for third grade students, but any class may participate. Teachers have the option of using trees in one of two ways—Seedlings for your Class, or Seedlings to Develop Habitat.

The Game Commission Howard Nursery provides a classroom, or one grade level, with enough seedlings for each student to take home to plant. The seedling choices are silky dog wood or white spruce. Along with the seedlings, the teacher receives a guide describing the proper planting techniques for the seedlings.

There is no cost to participate in the program.

Funding is provided through the generosity of The Wildlife For Everyone Endowment Foundation in cooperation with Waste Management, Pheasants Forever, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and Mealey’s Furniture. These organizations and business partners believe this is an exceptional educational program for students that will help them connect with wildlife in their communities.
