Philadelphia Sustainability Awards Name 12 Finalists
The Pennsylvania Environmental Council and seven other regional organizations this week announced they have selected 12 finalists for the 2009 Philadelphia Sustainability Awards for businesses, individuals, academic institutions, community groups and government agencies from the greater Philadelphia region.
 
This year's award programattracted nearly 70 nominations - an astounding number that surpasses previous years. Nominees include businesses, educational institutions, individuals and non-profits who demonstrate an impact on the region's economic, social and environmental sustainability.

The coordinating organizations for the award include PEC, Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, Delaware Valley Green Building Council, City of Philadelphia, Citizens for Pennsylvania's Future, The Reinvestment Fund, and the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission.
Five final winners will be announced on March 2 at the Philadelphia Flower Show. The awards ceremony is free and open to the public. Winners will also be exhibited at the Go Green Expo in Philly, which will feature earth-friendly products and services, from March 13-15.
