Illegal Dump Cleanup Grant Training Programs To Be Held Statewide in March

In conjunction with the Department of Environmental Protection and its Illegal Dump Cleanup Grant Program, PA CleanWays will be presenting illegal dump cleanup trainings throughout the month of March at various locations across the state.
PA CleanWays, using its community based approach, empowers people to eliminate illegal dumping and littering in Pennsylvania.
The workshops will be held:

-- March 11 -DEP SouthWest Regional Office,500 Waterfront Drive,Pittsburgh,412 442-4000;
-- March 18 -DEP NorthCentral Regional Office,208 W. Third Street,Williamsport,570 327-3636;
-- March 19 -DEP Northeast Regional Office,2 Public Square,Wilkes-Barre,570 826-2511;
-- March 24 -DEP SouthCentral Regional Office,909 Elmerton Avenue,Harrisburg,717 705-4704; and
-- March 26 -DEP SouthEast Regional Office,2 East Main Street,Norristown,484 250-5900. Attendees will learn: How to assess and reduce the amount of solid waste that is discarded illegally within their own communities;How to interpret the PA CleanWays’ county-based illegal dump survey that documents and measures the state of illegal dumping by municipality, complete with GIS maps and inventories of existing dumpsites;How to coordinate a successful cleanup,based on the PACW Cleanup Work Plan; andHow to access and utilize PA CleanWays’ program and educational tools and resources to abate illegal dumping in their communities.
Attendees will receive a PA CleanWays Cleanup Work Plan that provides step-by-step direction on how to coordinate a safe and successful illegal dump cleanup.
The work plan is based on PA CleanWays’nearly 20 years of experience organizing illegal dump cleanups and highlights the significant role of local volunteers in promoting, cleaning, and providing stewardship for areas that are plagued with illegal dumpsites.
Who Should Attend: All appointed and elected municipal officials, municipal employees and secretaries, county conservation district staff and watershed organization staff who are involved in community cleanup activities, or who plan to be involved in illegal dump cleanups, will benefit from attending this workshop.
There is no registration fee for this training, however, pre-registration is strongly recommended. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be sure to indicate which session you plan to attend.
