Fish and Boat Commission Seeking Candidates For At-Large Boating Seat
The Governor's Advisory Council for Hunting, Fishing and Conservationis seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the at-large boating commissioner on the board of the Fish and Boat Commission.
 
Applications will be accepted until February 27.
 
"We are searching for a person experienced in boating and water safety education who is also a registered boat owner in Pennsylvania," said Andy Talento, a member of the council's fish and boat subcommittee. "Pennsylvania ranks 12th in the nation in terms of registered boats, with more than 2.5 million people enjoying the activity on our waters."
 
Of the 10 seats on the Fish and Boat Commission, two of them are charged with representing boating interests.
 
The at-large boating seat is presently filled by Commissioner Donald K. Anderson of Meyersdale, Somerset County, whose term expires in June.
 
Candidates will first interview with the advisory council's fish and boat subcommittee and will be rated on responses, past volunteer experience with water and boating safety, as well as water conservation and restoration issues.
 
Gov.. Rendell will select the final candidate who, upon Senate confirmation, will serve an eight-year term. Commissioners serve without compensation, but do receive travel reimbursement.
