PA Outdoor Lighting Council Sponsors Outdoor Lighting Workshops
The PA Outdoor Lighting Council, along with the Department of Environmental Protection, is sponsoring two outdoor lighting workshops to help local officials understand effective outdoor lighting options. The workshops will be held:
 
-- April 29: Lancaster County Central Park Environmental Center; and
 
-- May 12: London Grove Township Building, West Grove, Pa.
 
This program on outdoor lighting will participants:
 
-- Understand the concepts and benefits derived from good lighting practices;
 
-- Appreciate the relationship between good lighting and sound energy management;
 
-- Understand how adverse lighting affects your community;
 
-- Define and identify improper or hazardous lighting;
 
-- Understand some of the simple and often inexpensive remedies available to correct
inappropriate lighting;
 
-- Understand the steps required to control lighting in your community; and
 
-- Learn how to write, get enacted and implement an effective lighting ordinance.
