Senate/House Bills Moving
The following legislation was considered this week--

Senate

Tax Credits:  Senate Resolution 20 (Pippy-R-Allegheny)directing the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to determine the impact of tax credit programs (including the REAP farm conservation tax credit) on the Commonwealth's economy, job market and state and local tax revenues was adopted by the Senate this week. The Legislative Budget and Finance Committee met this week to award a contract to a firm to do an evaluation on one program- the film development tax credit. The Committee must complete their evaluation in one year.
 
The House Finance Committee reported out a similar resolution--House Resolution 127 (Levdansky-D-Allegheny) and it is now on the House Calendar for action.

House

Appalachian Trail: House Bill 263 (Freeman-D-Lehigh) authorizing local governments to use zoning to protect the Appalachian Trail was reported from the House Appropriations Committee, passed by the House and is now in the Senate for consideration.

Guaranteed Energy Savings: House Bill 687 (Dermody-D-Allegheny) amends the guaranteed energy savings contracts law to include reducing water and wastewater consumption or operating costs was reported from the House Urban Affairs Committee and Tabled.

The Senate this week passed a similar resolution--Senate Resolution 20 (Pippy-R-Allegheny)-- and the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee met this week to award a contract to a firm to do an evaluation on one program- the film development tax credit.

Geography Education: House Resolution 35 (M.O'Brien-D-Philadelphia) urging the Department of Education to create stimulating ways to implement geography education was reported from the House Education Committee and is now on the House Calendar for action.

Coal Miner Stamp: House Resolution 98 (McCall-D-Carbon) urging the Postal Service to issue a commemorative stamp honoring coal miners was adopted by the House.
