Climate Change, Forestry And Carbon Markets Forum April 16

On April 16 the Roach-Baurer Forestry Forum will host a presentation entitled,Climate Change, Forestry, and Carbon Markets, Opportunities and Challenges for the Futureat the Kane Country Club on U.S. 6, east of Kane in McKean County.
Matthew S. Smith, Certified Forester and Director of Ecosystem Services of FORECON EcoMarket Solutions, LLC will discuss important subjects such as carbon sequestration, effects of climate change on forest management, carbon markets, protocols to measure carbon offsets, and future carbon project development in the United States.
Since early 2004, Matt has played a key role in the area of ecosystem service markets at FORECON in Falconer, NY. Matt is widely recognized as a leader in the area of forest carbon markets, carbon policy, and carbon project development in the US, and just recently returned from a consulting trip to Uruguay. He has served as an advisor or consultant to the Chicago Climate Exchange Forestry Committee, federal, state and local governments, investment groups, and landowners.
Early in 2007 Matt assisted in the development of a subsidiary of Forecon, Inc., FORECON Ecomarket Solutions, LLC. This business focuses on forest carbon sequestration, but also addresses other ecosystem services such as biodiversity and water, and the market based mechanisms to manage them. Reservations are required. Early reservations received by April 2, are $24.00. The cost of reservations, through April 9, is $25.00. The cost for full-time students pursuing a natural resource degree is $6.00. No reservations will be accepted after April 9.
