Onorato to Host Regional Strategy Session On The Green Economy March 27
Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato will host a regional strategy session entitled “Growing a Greener Economy” on March 27, from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the Senator John Heinz History Center.

The event will include panel discussions on workforce, infrastructure and entrepreneurism, as well as an update on the federal stimulus package.

“Southwestern Pennsylvania is already a leader in sustainable development, environmental stewardship and green technology,” said Onorato. “The goal of the strategy session is to identify steps that government, business, education and other stakeholders can take in order to position our region for continued success in the green economy. This will help us to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to green jobs, infrastructure and research.”

Panelists will include business, government, community and labor leaders, as well as sustainability experts. The specific discussion topics are: greening and growing energy and manufacturing jobs; advancing green building and infrastructure; and cultivating green entrepreneurism.

The session is free and open to the public. Due to limited seating, those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by sending email to: GreenStrategyRSVP@alleghenycounty.us by March 24.
