Contact List Allows Interested Parties To Help Develop Energy Efficiency, Conservation Plans

The Public Utility Commission this week informed interested parties that a list is available of electric utility contacts to allow interested parties to be engaged in the utility's development of energy efficiency and conservation plans under Act 129.

 

On January 15, the Commission established guidelines for electric distribution company energy efficiency and conservation plans. In that action, the Commission required its EDCs to engage in informal discussions with interested stakeholders during the pre-filing development of those plans.

 

Some of the informal discussions by the EDCs may include community meetings. Those wishing to have a seat at the table and input on these programs should call the specialists at the utility.

 

Act 129 adds several new sections to, and amends several existing sections of the Public Utility Code. The Commission will continue to implement the Act in phases. Subsequent phases of the Commission's Act 129 implementation process will address EDC and default service provider responsibilities; smart meter technology; time-of-use rates; real-time pricing plans; default service procurement; market misconduct; alternative energy sources; and cost recovery.
