Right now, you probably have about five gallons of water inside your body. And because the Earth keeps recycling the same water over and over again, the water that’s in you now has all been used before --- many, many times…in many, many ways.

 

That’s one very good reason to do all you can to keep water clean!

 

On April 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., the Westmoreland Conservation District is offering a free program to show you some other, equally good reasons to keep water clean… as well as some interesting and beautiful ways to do it – from creating rain gardens and wildlife habitats to putting a garden on your roof!

 

This fun and informative program features a conservationist-guided outdoor walk along “The Stormwater Trail” at the District’s headquarters, 218 Donohoe Road in Greensburg, about one mile from Westmoreland Mall.

 

Along the Stormwater Trail, you’ll see a variety of ways that rainwater can be put to good use – from recharging the groundwater as it flows through sidewalks made of permeable concrete, to irrigating flower and vegetable gardens after it’s been captured in a cistern.

 

The program will be held rain or shine and participants are urged to dress in comfortable shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather.
