Allegheny Energy Seeks Additional Acceleration Of Power Procurement Schedule
|
Allegheny Power announced this week the company has requested approval from the Public Utility Commission to further accelerate its power procurement schedule for residential customers.
The request seeks to expand the amount of power purchased in June 2009 for residential customers to approximately 550 megawatts of generation supply. The plan previously approved by the Commission called for procuring 250 megawatts in June for residential service.
The June auction will be the second in a series to procure power over a multi-year period for Allegheny’s Pennsylvania customers for the period beyond December 31, 2010, when generation rate caps expire.
