Ohiopyle State Park Master Plan Public Meeting Set For May 6
Ohiopyle Borough and Ohiopyle State Park announced this week they have scheduled the kick-off meeting for the Ohiopyle Joint Master Plan and Implementation Strategy for May 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Ohiopyle Community Center.

Residents, business owners, visitors, and other interested parties will be asked for input on the planning efforts previously developed for the area. The goal of the meeting will be to share early ideas related to transportation, parking, community design & appearance, tourism, and other planning areas that can potentially be developed into "shovel-ready" projects.

The master plan and implementation strategy is being developed by the Pennsylvania Environmental Council in close cooperation with the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Ohiopyle is a focus community within the Laurel Highlands Conservation Landscape initiative because tiny Ohiopyle Borough, with only 77 year-round residents, is surrounded by Ohiopyle State Park, which attracts 1.5 million visitors a year.

Additional meetings are planned for the summer, with June 10 slated to further develop ideas from the kick-off and to focus on community design and visual preference.

The May 6 meeting will be facilitated by planning firm URS, who will guide the process of developing the implementation plan.
