Senate (June 1): Senate Bill 45 (Greenleaf-R-Montgomery) further providing continuing education requirements for Landscape Architects, Senate Bill 617( Orie-R-Allegheny) authorizing the Heritage Area Program in law, Senate Bill 783 (MJ White-R-Venango) requiring additional reporting on the Hazardous Sites Cleanup Fund, Senate Bill 829 (MJ White-R-Venango) requirnig a 60-day comment period on the proposed climate change action plan, House Bill 262 (Haluska-D-Cambria) establishing prescribed burning practices, House Bill 263 (Freeman-D-Lehigh) further authorizing agreements to protect the Appalachian Trail. Committees The following Committees have meetings this week-- House: the Tourism and Recreational Development Committee holds a hearing on House Bill 719 (Helm-R-Dauphin) providing for the certification of lifeguards in State Parks; the Local Government Committee meets to consider House Bill 1367 (Carroll-D-Monroe) further providing for acquiring and hold land for open space; the Professional Licensure Committee meets to consider House Bill 975 (Adolph-R-Delaware) providing additional continuing education requirements under the Engineer, Land Surveyor and Geologists Registration Law, House Bill 587 (Markosek-D-Allegheny) providing for a geologists-in-training and other changes under the Engineer, Land Surveyor and Geologists Law; the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee holds a hearing on 2009-10 agriculture-related budget priorities; the Consumer Affairs Committee holds a hearing on Chapter 14- utility shutoffs and House Bill 1399 (Preston-D-Allegheny). Bills Introduced These bills of interest were introduced this week-- Mineral Rights: House Bill 1436 (J.White-D-Allegheny) providing for the expiration of unused mineral rights after 10 years.
Waste Facility Siting: House Bill 1447 (Goodman-D-Schuylkill) prohibiting the siting of a waste facility within 2,400 feet of a public water supply.
EAC/Geologic Hazards: House Bill 1450 (Deasy-D-Allegheny) making changes to Environmental Advisory Council provisions and providing for the designation of geologically hazardous areas.
Net Metering: House Bill 1472 (Solobay-D-Washington) making changes to net metering requirements in the Alternative Energy Portfolio Act.
Municipal Electric: House Bill 1474 (Solobay-D-Washington) adding municipalities which generate electricity to the definition of public utility.
