Senate/House Bills Moving
These bills of interest saw action in the Senate or House this week--

Senate

Harrisburg Greenbelt: Senate Bill 54 (Piccola-R-Dauphin) authorizing the transfer of land to provide a link in the Harrisburg Greenbelt was passed by the Senate and now goes to the House for consideration.

Gas Production: Senate Bill 297 (Yaw-R-Bradford) requiring more frequent reporting of oil and gas well production was amended and reported from the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and was referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Heritage Areas: Senate Bill 617 (Orie-R-Allegheny) authorizing the Heritage Area Program in law was amended and reported from the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and is now on the Senate Calendar for action.

Hazardous Sites: Senate Bill 783 (MJ White-R-Venango) requiring additional reporting on the Hazardous Sites Cleanup Fund was amended and reported from the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and is now on the Senate Calendar for action.

Climate Plan: Senate Bill 829 (MJ White-R-Venango) requirnig a 60-day comment period on the proposed climate change action plan was reported from the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and is now on the Senate Calendar for action.

Prescribed Burning: House Bill 262 (Haluska-D-Cambria) establishing prescribed burning practices was amended and reported from the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and is now on the Senate Calendar for action.

Appalachian Trail: House Bill 263 (Freeman-D-Lehigh) further authorizing agreements to protect the Appalachian Trail was reported from the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and is now on the Senate Calendar for action.

Open Space: Senate Bill 172 (Brubaker-R-Lancaster) further authorizing local governments to preserve, acquire or hold land for open space purposes was referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee.

House

Open Space: House Bill 951 (Dally-R-Northampton) further authorizing local governments to preserve, acquire or hold land for open space purposes was reported from the House Appropriations Committee and was passed by the House. The bill now goes to the Senate for consideration.

Geography Education: House Resolution 35 (M.O'Brien-D-Philadelphia) memorializing the Department of Education to create stimulating ways to implement geography education in public schools was adopted by the House.

County Waste Fee: House Bill 1069 (Scavello-R-Monroe) authorizing a county waste management fee was reported from the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and was referred to the House Appropriations Committee.

Medical Sharps: House Bill 594 (Siptroth-D-Monroe) requiring DEP to establish a program for the disposal of home-generated medical sharps was reported from the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and was referred to House Appropriations Committee.

Distribution System Improvements: The House Consumer Affairs Committee reported out House Bill 194 (Preston-D-Allegheny) providing for a DISC program for wastewater systems, House Bill 744 (Solobay-D-Washington) providing for a DISC program for natural gas systems was amended. Both bills were then Tabled.
