Paddle On The Lehigh River With Wildlands Conservancy This Summer, Fall

Abandon your televisions, turn off your iPods, and let go of your handheld game consoles! Its time to get up from in front of your computer monitors! Stop clicking buttons and tapping on keyboards! Take a break and get outdoors!
 
Experience the countless hours of fun and recreation that the natural world can provide on one of Wildlands Conservancy’s Bike and Boat Adventures! These one-day trips offer participants the opportunity to bike, boat or both while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Lehigh River.
 
The adventures include education programs to promote conservation and responsible stewardship of the Lehigh River watershed’s natural resources.
 
The Bike and Boat Adventure season runs from April to October with each trip having a unique theme including a Full Moon Adventure and a trip for bird lovers.
 
Each trip explores different sections of the river including the metro-wilderness of Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton. The program offers both public and private trips ranging in price from $30 - $35 per participant (registration fee includes canoes, bicycles and safety equipment).
 
2009 Trip Schedule
 
-- May 30 - Spring Fling – Bike the Lehigh Gorge. Bike from White Haven to either Rockport or Jim Thorpe through Lehigh Gorge State Park.Fee: $35 per person;
 
-- June 6 - Full Moon Evening Bike & Boat. Bike from Sand Island to Canal Park, then canoe back to Sand Island at dusk. Fee: $30 per person;
 
-- June 21 - Father’s Day Welcome to summer” Bike & Boat Adventure. Celebrate Dad & the first Day of Summer! Canoe from Canal Park to Sand Island, then bike back to Canal Park. Fee: $30;
 
-- July 11 - Paddle and Peddle the Lehigh Gap! Canoe through the beautiful Lehigh Gap to Walnutport, then bike back with a stop at the Lehigh Gap Nature Center. Fee: $35;
 
-- July 26 - Summer birding paddle. Paddle from Canal Park to Wilson Avenue, shuttle transportation back to Canal Park. Bring your binoculars, we’ll look in depth at the birds of the Lehigh River. Fee: $35;
 
-- August 22 - Hugh Moore Park Bike & Boat Trip. Canoe from Rt. 33 boat launch to Hugh Moore Park, bicycle through the park then back to the boat launch via Canal Towpath. Debut Trip! Fee: $30;
 
-- September 20 - Lehigh River Bike & Boat Challenge. Float Your Boat Challenge. Celebrate the Lehigh River and the 10th Anniversary of Bike & Boat by participating in one of these two incredible events;
 
-- October 3 - Fall Foliage – Bike the Lehigh Gorge. Bike from White Haven to either Rockport or Jim Thorpe through Lehigh Gorge State Park. Fee: $35; and
 
-- October 17 - Fall Foliage Paddle. Close out our season with this unforgettable paddle down the Lehigh River while the turn of the leaves are at their peak. Fee: $35.
 
Trips are open to participants 10 years old or older. Pre-registration is required. Interested parties can schedule their own custom trip. Host a Bike and Boat Adventure trip for your next family function or corporate team-building exercise!
