Free Recycling Workshops Set For June 22 In West Chester
On June 22 the Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania, in cooperation with and support from the United State Department of Agriculture, will be holding 2 workshops for Chester County municipal governments.
 
These workshops are intended to provide rural local governments with the tools and resources necessary to better manage their municipal solid waste. Municipal representatives, private sector service providers, environmental advocates and community leaders are welcome to attend.
 
At the workshop, you will learn how to:
 
-- make the connections between clean, attractive communities and sound waste management practices;
 
-- enhance traditional recycling and composting efforts;
 
-- expand special waste recoveries (including yard and food waste);
 
-- encourage mandatory waste collection;
 
-- address improper disposal practices including open burning, littering and illegal dumping;
 
-- build partnerships and better communication with private sector service providers and encourage municipal cooperation and multi-municipal programs to improve efficiency; and
 
-- assist rural municipalities in better evaluating their programs with the ultimate goal of increasing recycling diversions and efficiencies.
 
The workshops will be held on the same date-- June 22--10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Chester County Government Services Center, 601 Westtown Road, West Chester and the second from 5:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Chester County Solid Waste Authority, 7224 Division Highway, Narvon.
 
At the end of the workshop, you will leave with an educational tool kit that will include various fact sheets, templates, brochures and other related information. All materials, lunch or light supper will be provided free of charge.
