Cleanup Liability, Gas Production, Host Municipalities Topics Of House Committee Meeting

House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee is scheduled to meet on July 7 to consider legislation on brownfield cleanup liability, reporting oil and gas well production, redefining host municipalities related to waste facilities and expanding eligible applicants under the H20 water infrastructure funding program.
The bills include: -- Senate Bill 84 (Greenleaf-R-Montgomery) providing for a limitation on cleanup liability for economic development agencies; -- Senate Bill 297 (Yaw-R-Bradford) requiring annual reporting a oil and gas well production; -- House Bill 1798 (Eachus-D-Luzerne) adding not-for-profit organizations as an eligible applicant of the H2O water infrastructure program; and -- House Bill 1768 (Wansacz-D-Luzerne) amending Act 101 to expand the definition of host municipality. The Committee has also scheduled a meeting for July 8, however no agenda was provided. It is expected the Committee will consider House Bill 80 (Vitali-D-Delaware) expanding the Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards and authorizing a carbon sequestration network referred back to the Committee for further study July 2. Rep. Bud George (D-Clearfield) serves as Majority Chair of the Committee and Rep. Scott Hutchinson (R-Venango) serves as Minority Chair. |
