SRBC Hearing August 4 On Proposed Natural Gas Drilling Regulation Changes
The Susquehanna River Basin Commission is holding a public hearing to take comments on proposed regulatory revisions to streamline the use of SRBC-approved water for natural gas drilling in the Marcellus and other shale formations.

The Pennsylvania hearing will take place at 10 a.m., August 4 in the Second Floor Auditorium, Rachel Carson State Office Building, 400 Market St. Harrisburg. The hearing will be chaired by DEP Deputy Secretary for Water Management John Hines who serves as SRBC Alt. PA Commissioner.

The proposed changes affecting the natural gas industry will improve SRBC’s administrative efficiency once water sources have been approved, and provide greater flexibility to the industry in the use of approved water sources.

The proposed changes related to large energy projects will clarify SRBC’s regulatory review authority over such projects undergoing licensing, relicensing or license amendments through the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission or Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

SRBC has scheduled a second hearing to take place at 7 p.m., August 5 at the Holiday Inn-Elmira Riverside, 760 East Water St., Elmira, N.Y. The hearing will be chaired by Kenneth Lynch, SRBC Alt. NY Commissioner.
