Columbia Gas To Help Customers Find Hidden Savings Through Home Energy Audits
This year, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania is offerng its Energy Efficiency Program to homeowners who want to maximize those savings when it comes to their energy bills.

Customers who sign up for the initiative receive a free home energy audit and an energy efficiency plan outlining easy, inexpensive ways to save energy.

"Conserving energy is now part of the public's conscience, and at Columbia Gas, we are committed to helping our customers improve energy efficiency at home," said Patty Terpin, director of customer program compliance, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania. "All of our customers are capable of saving energy by performing minor home improvement tasks such as weather-stripping around windows and doors, or being sure to buy energy-efficient appliances. And in the end, saving energy saves money."

Beyond the savings that can be generated by an energy efficiency plan, Columbia Gas customers may also qualify for federal income tax credits. Tax credits are now available at 30 percent of the cost of a home improvement project (up to $1,500 through 2010 for existing homes). Credits are applicable for the following projects: windows and doors, insulation, roofing, HVAC systems, and water heaters.

EEP audits are available exclusively to Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania customers who may not qualify for other consumption reduction programs. To qualify, a family of four must earn between $33,076 and $55,125 per year.
