Trail Poll Reveals Most Hikers Longest Day Hike Is 15 To 20 Miles
The Keystone Trails Association recently released a poll of 433 hikers that revealed for most hikers 15 to 20 miles is the longest they have ever hiked in a single day.

Hikers and trail runners from the Northeast will have a chance to extend their personal bests on the scenic rolling hills of the lower Susquehanna Gorge September 12 when the Keystone Trails Association hosts the 25-mile Susquehanna Super Hike in York and Lancaster counties.

“Over 118 hikers have registered to challenge the steep hills, rocky terrain and deep ravines of the Mason-Dixon and Conestoga Trails,” said KTA President Thyra Sperry. “Hikers from across Pennsylvania, its contiguous states and as far away as Michigan will traverse both sides of the Susquehanna River in York and Lancaster counties.”

Results of Longest Single Day Hike Poll: Under 5 miles 18 responses or 4.2 percent; 5 to 10 miles 67 responses or 15.5 percent; 10.1 to 15 miles 110 responses or 25.4 percent; 15.1 to 20 miles 111 responses or 25.6 percent; 20.1 to 25 miles 50 responses or 11.5 percent; over 25 miles 77 responses or 17.8 percent.
