A Decade Of Growing Greener - Kiski-Conemaugh Stream Team, Bertsch-Hokendauqua-Catasauqua Groups Win Grants

The Kiski-Conemaugh Stream Team based in Cambria County and the Bertsch-Hokendauqua-Catasauqua Watershed Association in Northampton County have each won a $250 Growing Greener Anniversary Grant for submitting their stories to the www.GrowingGreener.com website.
The Growing Greener Watershed Restoration Program will be ten years old in December and to help celebrate 10 groups have come together to invite watershed groups to share their success stories on a special Growing Greener website. Melissa Reckner, Director of the Kiski-Conemaugh Stream Team, submitted a story about their group and the real difference the Growing Greener Program has made in being able to restore their watershed. Jim Wilson, Watershed Specialist, Northampton County Conservation District, submitted the story of the Bertsch-Hokendauqua-Catasauqua Watershed Association which is just in the beginning stages for working on their watershed with the help of Growing Greener funds. Thanks to the Foundation for Pennsylvania Watersheds and an anonymous benefactor, two $250 grants will be given to the watershed groups with the best article and photo or video each month through December. The groups partnering to sponsor the celebration include: the Foundation for Pennsylvania Watersheds,Stream Restoration, Inc., the Western Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation, the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, the Eastern Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, the PA Association of Conservation Districts,LandStudies, Inc. and PA Environment Digest. September 20 is the next deadline for entries for the second month of the grant program.
