Bethlehem Honored For Providing High Quality Drinking Water
The City of Bethlehem's drinking water supply and treatment operations were recognized this week for optimum treatment for its customers by the Department of Environmental Protection and the Association of State Drinking Water Administrators.

The city was recognized for its area-wide optimization program that considers treatment plant operations and inspections as well as the quality of the drinking water supplied to customers.

An area-wide optimization program is a multi-state effort in which states work together to develop and implement programs to optimize particle removal and disinfection capabilities of conventional surface water treatment plants beyond regulatory limits.

AWOP is designed to assist water systems work toward optimizing their existing treatment processes in an effort to increase public health protection.
