Help Wanted: DEP Seeking Nominations For Storage Tank Advisory Committee Vacancies

The Department of Environmental Protection is seeking nominations for the Storage Tank Advisory Committee. The committee currently has two public member vacancies.
The membership of the committee consists of four representatives of local government, five representatives of the regulated community, one registered professional engineer, one hydrogeologist, four representatives of the public, and one active commercial farm owner or operator. The two vacancies are representaives of the public. All members are appointed by the secretary of DEP. Anyone interested in serving as a member of STAC should have a demonstrated interest in public affairs. Individuals who are eligible for membership in another category or who have a financial interest in the regulation of storage tanks in the Commonwealth will not be considered for the public member positions. Experience with environmental regulations or technical knowledge of storage tanks would be helpful. The STAC was created in 1989 by the Storage Tank and Spill Prevention Act. The committee’s function is to review and advise DEP on regulations necessary to administer the Storage Tank and Spill Prevention Program. The committee meets on the second Tuesday of March, June, September, and December of each year.
