Join Special Heritage Hikes In Pennsylvania's Grand Canyon In October
Join the park naturalist for a hike on the Colton Point State Park Rim Trail and discover flora, fauna, and fungi along the trail as well as the history of the Pine Creek Gorge, otherwise known as the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon.

This program will be offered at 10:00 a.m. until Noon on October 3, October 4, October 10, October 11 and October 12.

Learn about the early Native American history, the geologic formation of the canyon, and the lumber heritage of the area.

The trail is a moderately difficult 1-mile loop hike that travels past overlooks with views of the gorge following along the perimeter of the ridge. The trail is mostly level, but unsuitable for strollers or wheel chairs.

The starting location will be in Colton Point State Park, the Rim Trail Trailhead.

Directions: Follow Colton Road off of Route 6 (approximately 10 miles west of Wellsboro) until you enter Colton Point State Park, when you pass the first Overlook on your left, continue to follow the paved road and turn left into the day-use area. The trailhead parking will be on your right.
