On the Senate/House Agenda/Session Schedule/Bills Introduced

NOTE: Due to the unpredictable nature of the Senate and House Committee schedule, meetings will be scheduled and cancelled quickly. The Calendars and Committee schedules this week are only a snapshot in time. Session Schedule The House is expected to be in session October 3 and the week of October 5. The Senate went home for the weekend and is expected back October 5. Keep in mind, the schedule, with all the budget discussions, is "flexible." Calendars House (Next Voting Day): House Bill 80 (Vitali-D-Delaware) expanding the Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards and authorizing a carbon sequestration network; House Bill 687 (Dermody-D-Allegheny) expanding the guaranteed energy savings contract provisions to include technology upgrades designed to reduce water and wastewater consumption or operating expenses; House Bill 1489 (George-D-Clearfield) authorizing a natural gas severance tax; House Bill 1531 (George-D-Clearfield), an omnibus tax bill to be moved with the budget, includes a natural gas production severance tax. Senate (Next Voting Day): Senate Resolution 153 (Wozniak-D-Cambria) urging Congress to exclude youth ATVs, motorcycles and snowmobiles from lead limit requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act. Committees House: the Insurance Committee meets to consider House Bill 523 (DeLuca-D-Allegheny) authorizing a Landslide Insurance and Assistance Program; the Game and Fisheries Committee hearing on the process now in use to distribute antlerless deer permits. Senate: the Appropriations Committee meets to consider House Bill 961 (Buxton-D-Dauphin) extending the sunset date on the $2/ton Recycling Fee to 2015 Bills Introduced The following bills of interest were introduced this week-- ATV Trails: Senate Bill 1079 (Robbins-R-Mercer) further providing for ATV trail maintenance and grooming in State Parks and Forests. Well Casing: Senate Bill 1092 (Kasunic-D-Somerset) amending the Oil and Gas Act to further provide for well casing. Oil & Gas Funds: House Bill 2015 (Hutchinson-R-Venango) redirects revenues from oil and gas leases to a new fund to be used for conservation, recreation, dams and flood control projects. Mining Alternative Bonds: House Bill 2016 (Hutchinson-R-Venango) authorizing the Department of Environmental Protection to use premiums from surface mine conversion assistance bonds to pay for alternative bonding system legacy sites. |
