Moon Township Source Water Protection Meeting To Be Held December 2
The Moon Township Municipal Authority will host a Source Water Protection public meeting at 6:30 p.m., December 2.

The meeting will be held in the second-floor meeting room of the Moon Township Community Services Center at 1700 Beaver Grade Rd, Moon Township, Pa in Allegheny County.

MTMA officials will provide a description of the DEP-approved SWP program, including detailed maps as well as current and proposed source water protection strategies.

MTMA is among the select group of DEP-approved voluntary source water protection programs in the commonwealth. The exemplary drinking water protection efforts exhibited by the authority, municipal stakeholders, Allegheny County Airport Authority, emergency management personnel and local citizens are to be commended.

Some of the benefits of MTMA’s source water protection plan include enhanced relationships with local industrial facilities; a comprehensive emergency response plan and contingency plan, which will increase awareness and improve response time by local fire department and emergency management agencies; and sustained public education efforts targeting consumers and schools, which will increase public involvement in current and future SWP activities.

For more information on the source water protection program, call Thomas McCaffrey, DEP, at 412-442-4051.
