PRC's 2009 Hard-to-Recycle Collections Produce Results In Allegheny County
The Pennsylvania Resources Council partnered with the Allegheny County Health Department, eLoop llc, Global Links, and the Appliance Warehouse, to sponsor five "Hard to Recycle" Collections in 2009.

A total of 1,163 residents safely recycled over 32 tons of e-waste, 73 appliances, 1,025 tires, hundreds of printer/toner cartridges, cell phones and CFL's, and more than 2,000 pounds of batteries!

Residents were able to drop off unwanted electronics (televisions, computer monitors, CPUs, printers, fax machines, copiers, VCRs, and stereos), tires, mixed paper, cardboard, printer/toner cartridges, CFLs, cell phones, alkaline batteries, and medical supplies.

Major appliances (refrigerators, air conditioners, washers, and dryers) were collected during the November 21st event at The Mall at Robinson.

This year, a new partnership with Global Links enabled residents to drop off medical equipment and supplies - such as canes, walkers, and crutches - at no cost, to be sent to those in need in developing countries around the world.

Dates and locations are being finalized for 2010 events. Click here to read more.
