Bills On Prescribed Burning, Appalachian Trail, Brownfields Reach Governor's Desk In 2009

During 2009 legislation on brownfields, protecting the Appalachian Trail, the Capital Greenbelt and adopting prescribed burning requirements reached the Governor's desk and became law--

Prescribed Burning:
House Bill 262 (Haluska-D-Cambria) setting standards for prescribed burning practice was signed into law by the Governor as Act 17.

Capital Greenbelt:
Senate Bill 54 (Piccola-R-Dauphin) which would establish a permanent easement to protect the Capital Greenbelt trail on the former State Hospital grounds in Harrisburg was signed into law as Act 21.

Appalachian Trail:
House Bill 263 (Freeman-D-Lehigh) providing additional protection for the Appalachian Trail through local zoning ordinances was signed into law as Act 23.

Brownfields:
Senate Bill 84 (Greenleaf-R-Montgomery) providing for a limitation on cleanup liability for economic development agencies was signed into law by Gov. Rendell is is now Act 26.
