The National Association of Abandoned Mine Land Programs is now accepting applications for scholarships for students interested in working as scientists or technicians in the field of mine land reclamation.  Applications must be received by May 30.
Two $1,500 scholarships will be given: one to a student enrolled in a school in the Midwest or Eastern United States (generally east of the Mississippi River); and a second to a student enrolled in a school in the Western United States.
The scholarship holders are expected to attend the 2010 NAAMLP Annual Conference in Scranton, Pa on September 19-22.  Costs (travel, lodging, per diem up to a total of $1,000) and Conference registration fees will be covered in addition to the scholarship. Scholarship recipients are expected to participate in all Conference activities.
Scholarship monies will be awarded in the form of a tuition check made out to the accredited educational institution to be received at the annual NAAMLP conference.    Tuition may be used at any accredited institution of higher education. The NAAMLP Scholarship must be utilized during the 2010-2011 school year.
