Deadline for submitting a notice of intent to apply is April 7.  Complete proposals are due May 4.
Ben Franklin will award funds of up to $50,000 in selected companies. The funding is provided through the Alternative and Clean Energy Technology Development and Commercialization Initiative, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy.
"These funds are designed to accelerate the market entry of products that improve the efficiency of energy distribution and reduce costs," said RoseAnn B. Rosenthal, President & CEO of Ben Franklin.
Technology-based companies with fewer than 500 employees in BFTP/SEP's five-county region (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia Counties) are eligible.
Commercialization projects must be related to alternative and/or clean energy technology, specifically to Pennsylvania's Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards Tiers I and II energy sources.
Examples include:  Tier I-- solar photovoltaic energy, wind power, low-impact hydropower, geothermal energy, fuel cells; and Tier II-- waste coal, distributed generation systems, demand-side management, large-scale hydropower.
Companies are required to contribute a 1:1 financial match; cash is highly preferred, and will weigh heavily in Ben Franklin's evaluation process. The recipient's cost share must come from non-Federal sources.
