Free Drinking Water Source Protection Workshops April 21, 22

The Department of Environmental Protection invites water suppliers and local officials to attend free workshops in Clearfield on April 21 and Armstrong County on April 22 to learn how to collaborate to  better protect drinking water sources.
The Clearfield workshop will be held from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Hyde Social Hall, 1618 Washington Ave. in Clearfield.   The Armstrong County workshop will be held at the Crooked Creek Environmental Learning Center, Ford City, at the same times.
The workshop presenters will explain how communities can assess and protect areas surrounding water sources, facilitate better local decision making on land use and open space preservation, and involve the public in efforts to avoid contamination.
Information on DEP’s Source Water Protection Technical Assistance Program will also be presented.    PRWA will provide 3.5 contact hours for certified operators.
The workshop is sponsored by DEP, the League of Women Voters PA Water Resources Education Network, the Pennsylvania Rural Water Association, the Pennsylvania Section of American Water Works Association, Susquehanna River Basin Commission, Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences, Clearfield County Conservation District, Clearfield County Planning and Community Development Office, Clearfield County Senior Environment Corps/RSVP, and the Great DuBois Chamber of Commerce.
Those interested in attending must pre-register for the workshop online or by contacting Julie Kollar of the League of Women Voters’ Water Resources Education Network at 267-468-0555 or send email to:  juliekwren@verizon.net.
