Philipsburg Osceola High School Wins GreenSylvania Recycling Competition

It was a tough battle to the end but Philipsburg Osceola High School pulled out the victory in the Centre County GreenSylvania recycling competition. During the month of March, a recycling competition was held between Bald Eagle High School, Bellefonte High School, Penns Valley High School, Philipsburg-Osceola High School, State College High School, Bellefonte Elementary School, Park Forest Elementary School and the State College Friends School.
This recycling competition, called “GreenSylvania,” had students and faculty recycling all of their paper, at a record pace.
All eight schools are to be commended for their valiant recycling efforts. In total, the schools recycled 18,348 pounds of paper during the month of March. However, it was Philipsburg Osceola High who came in first recycling 4,332 pounds of paper (5.71 pounds per person).
For their outstanding recycling efforts, each school will be presented with a recycled content award plaque for participating. Philipsburg Osceola High, the winning school, will receive a $250.00 donation to be used towards their environmental or conservation group.
The Centre County Solid Waste Authority would like to thank all of the schools for their participation in the GreenSylvania recycling competition.
