Bartolomeo Named Chair Of PA Environmental Council Board

Don Welsh, President and CEO for the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, announced the Board of Directors has elected Anthony S. Bartolomeo, PE, as Chairman.
“Tony is a seasoned environmental business leader who works tirelessly on PEC’s behalf,” said Welsh. “He is well-known for his work on charitable endeavors and believes that he should work as hard at his pro-bono work as for his clients.  He will be a great asset to PEC as we celebrate our past 40 years and look forward to future success.”
Bartolomeo is President and CEO of Pennoni Associates, an 800-person multi-disciplinary consulting engineering and design firm headquartered in Philadelphia. He comes to PEC with vast experience, leadership and expertise.
His strong belief in corporate responsibility to our planet and its environment has led him to serve as a leader in several organizations devoted to conservation and regeneration of our planet and its resources. These include PEC, where he has been an active Board Member for more than 10 years and previously served as Chairman of the Governance Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Board, and the Philadelphia Global Water Initiative for which he is a Founding Board Member and Finance Committee Chairman.
Bartolomeo is a civil engineering graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and a licensed Professional Engineer in several states. He has more than 30 years experience in environmental engineering, coupled with broad experience in relationship development among the federal, state and local government levels, all of which have a stake in the success of major civil infrastructure and environmental projects.
In addition to his work with environmental organizations such as PEC, Bartolomeo is involved with several other non-profit and community-based organizations. He is a Board Member of the Philadelphia Academies, Inc.; a CEO Ambassador for 21st Century Skills; Chairman of the Board of the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia; and a Board Member of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.
Most recently, Mr. Bartolomeo was appointed by Mayor Michael Nutter as one of four co-chairs for the Philadelphia Council for College and Career Success, an organization charged by the Mayor with envisioning and developing citywide partnerships, strategies, and infrastructures to support youth attainment of 21st century skills and post-secondary education.
“I am looking forward to working with the leadership team and the PEC Board to address major issues, such as water quality, clean energy, and green infrastructure, that will contribute to the quality of life and economic development in Pennsylvania,” stated Bartolomeo.
