DEP To Conduct Annual Water Treatment Plant Operator Training During May
|
The Department of Environmental Protection will offer its annual filter workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 20 in Brackenridge, Allegheny County. Since 2002, more than 400 water treatment plant operators have attended this annual workshop, called “Optimizing Filter Performance,” that focuses on improving public health protection against waterborne pathogens by optimizing their removal in the drinking water treatment processes.
Conducting routine preventive maintenance and practicing best operational procedures is the best way to assure long-term reliability of filtration.
DEP is partnering with the Pennsylvania Section American Water Works Association and Penn State Harrisburg to deliver the course. The workshop discusses practices recognized by the National Partnership for Safe Water Program for optimizing filter performance.
The course is approved for 6.5 continuing education hours for waterworks operators
