Marcellus Shale Production Company Supports PA Severance Tax, With Limits
|
The Tribune Review this week reported the Chief Executive Officer of EQT Corp, a Marcellus Shale natural gas production company, said he supported the imposition of a natural gas severance tax in Pennsylvania, so long as the funds go directly to municipalities affected by drilling activity.
EQT holds more than 500,000 acres of Marcellus Shale producing land in Pennsylvania. In March EQT paid approximately $280 million for drilling rights to 58,000 acres in Cameron, Clearfield, Elk and Jefferson counties.
